DSCC MWR Outdoor Recreation Terms, Conditions & Policies

 

Mandatory Camper/Boat Classes

Anyone renting a camper or boat must attend a 20 minute training session, which provides instructional and safety information.  Each must be renewed every rental season.  The reset date is May 1 annually.

Camper Training Sessions can be attended any time by stopping at the front desk of the Fitness Center and requesting to watch the video.

Boat Training Sessions will be by appointment only, Wednesdays between 11:15am-12:45pm.

Equipment Rental Policies

  • ELIGIBILITY: DSCC Outdoor Recreation (ODR) and Outdoor Adventure Programs are available to all DLA associates in good standing* assigned to the DSCC, and their immediate family members, with valid identification. Minors under the age of eighteen years of age are not eligible to reserve equipment, sign rental agreements, check in or out rental equipment nor sign up for or attend trips without a guardian. ODR is also available to active-duty military, reservists, military dependents, 100% service connected disabled veterans, military & DoD retirees and DoD contractor’s with valid identification. Veterans Administration employees are eligible with an annual fee and valid identification.
    *“In good standing” is defined as a patron with no outstanding charges, late fees, damage/replacement fees, cancellation fees, unreturned items or other outstanding fees owed to the DSCC ODR Program.
  • RESERVATIONS: To reserve an item, a down-payment of a one day’s rental fee is required for each item. Credit cards only to reserve equipment.
  • RENTAL PERIOD & PICK-UP :

    Daily Rental 24 hours or same day pick-up/return
    Weekend Rental Friday after 7am to Monday before 12pm
    Holiday Weekend Friday after 7am to Tuesday before 12pm
    Weekly Rental 7 days

    All equipment will be checked out Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and be returned by 12 p.m. Participants must present a valid picture ID or MWR card at the time of rental. Renters are required to load and unload their own equipment. Renters are required to take campers into the Outdoor Recreation storage area on return and pop them up for inspection. Hitch with a 2-inch ball required for all tow-behind equipment.

  • RENTAL CANCELLATIONS: Deposit rental fee will be refunded if reservation is cancelled more than 3 business days before the reservation day. Deposit is non-refundable if reservation is cancelled within less than 3 days of reservation date. Refunds will not be given due to bad weather. Items that are cancelled 3 business days or less in advance of pick-up date (or items that are not picked up at all) will result in the rental balance remaining on the account and the suspension of rental privileges until balance is paid. ODR’s preferred method of credit card payments will be refunded immediately in the Fitness Center. Cash/Check payments will be mailed to your preferred address within 7 to 30 business days. Please make sure we have current contact information.
  • DAMAGE DEPOSIT: Refund of damage deposits paid by credit/debit card will be processed the same day. Only account holder is able to sign the refund request.
  • DAMAGES: All equipment will be examined by both a staff member and the renter to annotate equipment status prior to rental. All items must be returned in original condition and suitable for immediate re-rental. A repair or replacement fee will be assessed to patron for replacement items and/or labor cost to repair/replace and maintain damaged, lost, dirty, soiled and wet items. Damage fees must be paid within two paydays of rental return. After two paydays, fees will be considered outstanding and will be reported to the Legal Department. A $5 cleaning fee will be assessed for all camping tents returned wet. ANY damage to a canopy will result in the purchase of damaged canopy at full replacement value. Please take care of our equipment as you would your own property.
  • LATE FEES: Equipment must be returned on or before the indicated time on the rental contract Equipment returned late will be charged the daily rate of the equipment for every day that it is late. All free equipment returned late will be charged a $10 late fee for every day late. Customer must contact Equipment Checkout Center if any or all items will be returned past the due date/time. Late fees must be paid within two paydays of rental return. After two paydays, fees will be considered outstanding and will be reported to the Legal Department.
  • PATRON RESPONSIBILITY/LIABILITY: Renter is responsible for loading and unloading of rental equipment on and off POV. Renter is responsible for hook-up and tie-down. Recreation Equipment Checkout Center does not provide tie-down straps. Renter must provide own towing equipment and have proper tow ball size, hook-up and electric break box installed if applicable. Renter assumes full responsibility for equipment and is held liable for personal injury or death and property loss or damage. Equipment may not leave Recreation Equipment Checkout Center if any or all parts of the required hook-up components are inoperable. Non-compliance may result in loss of rental fee. Misuse of program privilege, personally profiting from the use of MWR merchandise and services constitutes a violation that may result in loss of MWR privileges, in accordance with AR 215-1, Chapter 7-4(3).
  • RENTAL ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY: Rental items reserved that become unavailable due to late or damaged returns will be substituted for similar/like items of equal value which are available due to no fault of activity.
